Car dealers and banks.
They are very much similar.
A car dealer will “rip you off” every time you visit them…or they rip off the OEM when they repair a supposed “warranty” item WITH your car. Lots of stories there on how they rip everyone off.

Yesterday, I received a bonus that was automatically deposited into my account – which is linked to online banking.
Simple. Hasn’t failed yet.
But then, I saw a “NSF” charge for $35.
THIRTY-FIVE DOLLARS.
Don’t get me wrong. I orchestrate my funds flow – in detail – as I am not rich.
To save even on a day’s interest charge (since my EARNINGS are taxed so much more now), I also schedule payments to “arrive” at the payee’s on the same day as my deposit.
That’s what B of A promises. Headache free on-line banking. I’m sure they make bazillions of dollar on float alone at the same time.

But yesterday… Well actually, on January 30th, B of A “paid” a large check one day earlier than what I scheduled. Not on the 31st as I scheduled per their “headache free online banking service”.
They paid it one whole day early.
It bounced.
Not “technically” as my bonus hit the bank a minute past midnight. It bounced. On the 30th.
Bank of America PROMPTLY charged me 35 stinking dollars.

I won’t expand on how much time I spent on THREE phone calls to get them to fix their error. But they apologized. Really.
But TODAY…. February 1st… Their online banking system has been DOWN since about 7:30 AM. It is now past 3:00 PM here.
Funny, isn’t it?
We can’t charge THEM $35 for not being able to access our money at ALL.
Zilch. Nada.
Oh. I’m sorry…
They are telling us to visit one of their convenient ATM’s… but would somebody tell them their ATM’s can’t pay my gas bill?
Pffft.
I can’t like this Koji, because it sucks (blunt truth).
As of today, Feb. 5, it is still unresolved!
Unbelievable! I am assuming you are now SUPER PISSED.
If I were Superman, there would be a giant hole in B of A’s corporate wall where I super-pissed.
Koji shaped! 😉
Ahm… more like the Pillsbury Dough Boy.
Pfft. Not.
It happened to me also…
So we are really twins Koji!
My bank (not B of A) charged me 42.50 Canadian though.
You know that all this money goes to pay big bonuses to executives don’t you. We should be grateful (pun intended).
oh man that’s brutal!
No shit. Sorry.
lol
Banking is crazy these days. I have similar stories about “customer service” and banks! I have an automatic payment that is supposed to come out on the 1st of every month and this month? It paid on January 30 – TWO days earlier. Thank goodness I had enough in there to cover it (this time!)
I feel your pain and echo all your sentiments — colorful language included!
Must be nice to have extra funds, Janet! LOL As of today, Feb. 5, it is still unresolved!
Groan.
More like crapola!
It’s like when the cable/internet goes out. To bad for us but if we want to spend an hour on the phone we can get a $5 credit. I hear your pain.
You can get a $5 credit? Wow. Very, very generous of them! lol
It’s all about the money. As in them taking yours. I’ve noticed businesses are even more cut-throat now than ever – and it’s the throats of the consumers that they are cutting (as well as their employees).
I learned by watching others not to schedule things too “close”. While they will take money OUT of my account in a heartbeat – it generally takes them three days (or more!) to put it in – even when I’ve deposited my check (or cash!).
Banks suck. My mattress is starting to look like a better investment than them.
Time for a revolt, folks – make a run on the banks, pull out your dough . . .
Oh, wait: the government requires me to have a bank account now, for my Social Security check.
Bastards.
Ah… the mattress! Can a mattress pay my bills, too? 🙂
You are preaching to the choir….I am so fed up with banks with what little we earn by holding our money there, all the extra fees they are now charging and what little we really have anyway…it would be worth it to bury it in the backyard instead of letting them get their grubby little hands on it. Banks are a symbol of the all the Mr. Potters (Its A Wonderful Life) and Scrooges in this world. I am still waiting to be bailed out that was caused by the governments greed and mismanagement of our tax dollars. :O
Did you hear that Jesse James was actually a Freemason and hid silver dollars in glass jars scattered about the countryside? Maybe that’s what we should do! But I hear ya. Obama bought this last election by bailing out Chrysler and GM (union votes) and the eco-geared mentalities by “lending” that solar energy company millions of TAX dollars… All to get votes.
Interesting fact about Jesse James, I did not know that. He always fascinated me. You are also right about BO – I see dark days ahead.
I think you should send them a bill, may make you feel better even if you get no response! Put it attention the branch manager, then send a late notice…what’s it gonna hurt?
Oh my goodness, you described how I spent last week!!
