SEVENTY -FIVE YEARS AGO TODAY…
While the horrific battle for Iwo Jima was still raging, the first large scale firebombing attack also took place 75 years ago today under orders from General Curtis LeMay. The target was Tokyo.
While my aunt featured in my story below passed away late last year, you can read about her memories of that night as well as that of the son (and friend) of a B-29 captain who actually flew firebombing missions over Japan.

Koji, you always put together well-researched and interesting posts. With your family connections from both sides, you offer a great perspective.
